Chennai: In a tragic accident that took place at Valasaravakkam early on Saturday morning, a one-year-old girl was run over by a speeding mini lorry while her parents were busy fighting nearby and ignored the child who had by then crawled to the middle of the road, police said.

The deceased child Kausalya lived with her parents Kumar (34) and Selvi (34) at Valasaravakkam. Kumar, a painter, had another wife Sumitha (35), with whom he had been living for the last ten years. The couple even had two grown up children, according to the police.

“After he married Selvi two years ago, Kumar stopped visiting his first wife and this led to a lot of confusion among the three of them.“Late on Friday, Sumathi came to Selvi’s home along the Arcot Road and the two women were rolling over each other as Kumar watched them. Meanwhile little Kausalya crawled to the middle of the road and was run over by a lorry,” the Vadapalani police said. A case has been registered and investigations are on.
