President of CRISP, Kumar Jahgirdar, demanded that Department for Children's Welfare should be separated from Department for Women's Welfare. Speaking to journalists on Thursday, he said that representatives of his organization are going to submit memorandums to Sonia Gandhi and President Pratibha Patil demanding a separate Department for Children's Welfare. He said that both parents are equally responsible for their children. He said that issues of child custody in cases of divorce should be decided by courts within one month. Ekta Singh, a representative of the organization, said that if parents break up and split their children it will cause great misery to both paternal and maternal grand parents. Dr. Prema Vithal Rao was among those who participated in the conference.
